Sunday 5/16 and Monday 5/17/2010

Sunday morning, just like they came, they scattered... most people took off early with several having multi-day trips ahead of them.  I was in no particular hurry but decided to check out and then go for a morning ride before taking off for my daughters place in Asheville.  The plan was to head back north and maybe do some of the roads that I had planned but missed the other day.

I took 328 and when I got to the point where it joins into 27 decided I needed to do that again... so turned around and did... and then I did the a couple more times..  Hey, it's not about the destination, it's about the road... right... and that is a nice piece of road...  then it occurred to me, maybe I could take my camera, put it on video mode, stuff it in my jacket, and see if I can get a move of at least part of it... When I uploaded this thing and watched it back it was really choppy... so hopefully if you're watching it you will not have the same problem... if you do.. oh well...

Like I said, that's only a part of the road, and I lost track of how many times I went back and fourth... I was there for hours... There were some folks out on the porch of one of the houses that must have thought I was nuts...

I did eventually go further up route 27, made a few side excursions, then turned around and did 328 one more time coming back to the hotel... I had gotten everything else ready to go, so when I got to the hotel I just loaded up the bike on the trailer, and jumped on the interstate toward Asheville, arriving in Hendersonville about 3:15 local time.

Yay Daughter!!

Las time I saw her her hair was totally short cause she had just cut off about seven years worth of dreadlocks... Let's jut say it was no secret that I thought they looked bad.. :)  So, here we are... Dad, Hippie Daughter, Hippie Boyfriend... :)

The man is talented...  Here's a track off his "lightbody" album... he plays all the instruments on the entire album and puts it all together...

This is Nathan cleaning a fish that one of the other roomies caught.  The man has skills...

Well.. anyway.. that fish wasn't going to feed all of us... so we went out to a local Mexican place called Papas and Beers... If you are in the area you absolutely have to eat there.  Excellent food and service.

Later on we went to an open mike night at an Asheville bar... there were some funny people and my daughter ended up winning a $10 bar tab.

Next day we went out to breakfast the Sunny Point Cafee  , again, if you are in the area... you absolutely have to go there... I had their "Huevos Rancheros: Savory black bean cakes served with Snow Creek chorizo sausage, feta cheese, roasted tomatillo salsa, and herb tossed red skin spuds topped with two free range eggs any style, cilantro crema, and crispy tortilla strips"... Good stuff...

After breakfast we went to the Little River Tripple Falls in the DuPont State Forest where we hiked a few miles to see the three different falls, each one getting progressively bigger..

Then we got to the second set of falls...

Then continued on to the third waterfalls...

So, took my shoes off and did a little climbing to get up closer to the falls...

As my daughter was taking photos, my camera started getting misted up from the spray... she caught this shot which I think looks really cool... the water on the lens diffused the light and gave it almost a dreamy appearance...

Well, needless to say... we had a great time... spending time with my daughter... getting to know her boyfriend.. and of course seeing Anni... the dog..  My daughter has had that dog since it was little... very smart... they have grown up together and are inseparable...

Well... it was going to be a long drive home... and rather than doing it in one day I thought it best to get some hours in Monday night... stop over at a rest stop to sleep in the car... and drive the rest of the way home when I woke up...

And so we said our goodbye's and I drove off...  and nature put on a show again... and I was lucky enough to be in the right spot at the right time to catch some of it...

I pulled over at a truck stop that night about 10:30.. covered myself up with my jacket and fell asleep... woke up the next morning and kept driving... stopped for another nap mid morning... and made it home about midday Tuesday... for some down time before going back to work the next day...
